I have uploaded this drawing today, August 8 2013 (although I actually drew it in January 2013) as a tribute to the photographer of the picture that I used as a reference for this drawing, Sussie Ahlberg,

Sussie was a photographer who specialised in photographing musicians, and I was shocked to read today that she had died, age 50, while swimming in the Hampstead Heath ladies’ bathing pond in London. Here is her website showing the range of her work www.sussieahlburg.com/index.ph….

The subject of this portrait is Alina Ibragimova, a violinist who has given me hours of pleasure in live performance, on CD and in radio broadcasts. She records for the Hyperion record label and the link to her page there is www.hyperion-records.co.uk/a.a… where you will also see a small copy of the photo that I used as reference for this drawing. It is a sad coincidence that the photo session in which this photo was taken was at Hampstead Heath, where Sussie tragically died.
The photo is used in the CD booklet accompanying her recording of the two Mendelssohn violin concertos, the earlier of which was written when Mendelssohn was only 13, which I urge you to hear if you have any interest in Classical music.

I have uploaded this drawing as Fan Art as, although Alina Ibragimova may not be a household name as she would be if she were a film star, in the world of classical music, however, she is most definitely a brightly-shining star.
