Graphite pencil portrait, size A4, on Bristol board of Rita Pilkov.
I am indebted to Ilona Bouzar lilona9999.deviantart.com/ for her kind permission to use her beautiful photograph ‘Girl’ www.deviantart.com/#/art/Girl-… as a reference for this drawing.
I decided to draw this as I wanted a challenging portrait, rather than an easy one, to follow my previous drawing latestarter63.deviantart.com/a…, which had been my most complex drawing to date and had included hair with curls and ringlets.
Soon after starting this current drawing, however, I began to doubt that I had made the right choice as the hair was just so very complex, but I persevered and am reasonably pleased with the end result.
Edit 11 Dec 13: I have adjusted the black and the white levels of the original photo using Zoner Photo Studio (which I did not have on my computer when I first uploaded the image). The photo now appears rather closer to my original drawing.
Edited 24 September 2014: Photograph replaced with a better one one taken with more even illumination.
